Take Back your Prayer Life!

Bait and Switch Prayer

Have you ever heard of bait and switch sales tactics? The store will advertise they have a sofa on sale for about $99 but when you arrive at the store, they will say they sold out. In fact, one later finds out that they never had a sale. I remember years ago when Montgomery Wards was our town favorite store. The newspaper was fresh off the press not in circulation yet with their sales. My mom and my son were newspaper carriers and sometimes I worked with them, which granted advantages. This particular day I rushed to the store to get this fantastic comforter set that was on sale. When I got to the store the guy said they sold out and I argued I just got the paper how could that be? Well they called the manager and they let me get a high price set for the same price. Bait and Switch is still used today but illegal. However, the point of the story is that we sometimes go to God in prayer with promises if he move or do this or that for us, then we will do this or that. When God deliver, we forget what we promised him and switch back to our previous ways. It reminds me of something TD Jakes said in an interview with Benny Hin when people marry, sometimes men marry the bait, but when the woman take off the makeup, the wig, the nails, the nice attitude, etc., she have switched!

In our society now we have gotten so busy we don’t have the time to give to God in prayer. I want to share with you ways to steal back time for God.

When the clock goes off and you are rushing to work start talking to God as you dress. Speak blessings in your life and your love ones. Even speak blessings on the one at work you can’t get along with. Some people will tell you they don’t have time. Where will I find the time to pray and seek God? I will say just like you find time to read a book use some of that time to ask God to allow you to read with comprehension. When you have your 15 minute break and you grab a soda or cup of coffee ask God to bless what you are about to consume. We are living in a time that things are contaminated.

At the lunch hour ask God to bless your food, before you bite. At the end of the day on your way to the car, ask God to bless your trip home safely because an accident is waiting to happen. When you approach the door of your home ask God to bless your home to be full of love and that nothing negative awaits you. While cooking, ask God to sanctify the food for consumption.

When you settle to watch TV and you see or read disasters, corruption and gossip, ask God to be with his people. Obviously our nation is in a crisis and we need to unite on one accord and pray. Just before going to sleep for the night, asks the Lord to give you favor and anoint your family in love, safety, and peace. Thank him for allowing you to remember him and during the day pray for others. When you add all the times you spoke to God today you will realize you prayed & worshipped him as we were created to praise him. Now you will not just bait God in for a blessing and switch. You can have what you speak just believe and receive. Mt. 7:8
While praying the next time, pray for the originator of how to take your prayer life back.

May you have all that you can think or ask!
